If you have no clue what PMOG is, here's a brief description (a la wikipedia). PMOG (Passively Multiplayer Online Game) is an online game which players 'passively' participate in while browsing web pages. Players earn data points by visiting unique domains, which they can spend on various game items that can be attached to web pages to trigger events when another player next visits that page.
I heard about PMOG through WIRED magazine and thought I'd give it a whirl. I started on Wednesday and in the three days I've been playing, I found that it's more than a game. It's a way to share the web with other players and perhaps discover something new! I've already happened across several ska enthusiast via PMOG missions and learned about some bands I had never heard of. Although PMOG is much more comprehensive than just dealing with music (or specifically ska), it's definitely a good tool (wasn't it a game though?) to discover bands and various other cool things that ska connected - especially if I get some more SKA Summit members and SKAspotters to join...
So here's where you come in... Take a look at
PMOG.com and, if this sounds interesting to you, email me at
skaisyourfriend@skaspot.com and I'll send you an invite. Why do we do it this way you ask?? It's all about the datapoints my friends (Datapoints are PMOG's version of HP). If I invite you and you accept, I receive 200 free datapoints and I'll return the favor by splitting them with you! Best of all... we get to share/discover each other's favorite bands and we build the internet ska community even more! 2 birds with one stone!
