I finally got around to posting photos from the
Clinton Fearon show I went to at
19 Broadway in Fairfax on 10/19/2007. The link below will take you to the photos and a mosaic of some of them is also below. It was the best reggae show I have ever seen and one of the best shows period.
Below the mosiac is a mini trip report cut from Bay Area Ska.

Photos from this show are finally up
Looking through them reminded me of just how good it was. If you ever get a chance to see Clinton Fearon, you should. The best reggae show I've ever seen.
My stay at The Fairfax Inn was good. It is right behind the club. My drive home the next day was eventful, because a hose clamp on my transmission fluid filter popped off on 880 in Oakland, leaving me and my van on the shoulder. I had just paid several thousand dollars to have the transmission rebuilt so this sucked. I called the garage and they sent someone out right away to fix it, and all was well. I'm glad it didn't happen at night on a bridge.
Other than that, and the music, there was another highlight. I commented on this guy's hat at the club and ended up sitting down with him and his date. They were both close (+/- 10 years) to my age, which is shocking. He is a guitar player and photographer and to hear him tell it, has played in, or been at every important recording session since 1975. At some point, the band started again and we got up. He drifted off, and she started telling me something about how he had her keys to her $75k car, and she was a bored housewife in Marin, in the final stages of divorce. Now the great part about this was, I had to lean my head over to hear her, giving a great view of her perfect natural boobs! Her breasts were light brown, and she had some of that sparkly stuff on. Her top was very low cut and her push-up bra was working. I was a very good listener! Eventually we went off and found her date and they vanished. I got back into the music and was left with
Memories...

Great show, Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band.
Man I'm becoming more of a committed fan each time I see them. Bought a couple more cd's and played them when I was down in LA for the David Fuentes Tribute show, great stuff. Either I missed some stuff they played when they were up here twice or am now catching it, couple new favorites and on the cd's. Fairfax was a very cool town. No hassles at all. Parked in the IGA parking lot and had no worries.(also spent a night at a rest stop outa LA first night down there but broke down and got a room for the David Fuentes Tribue Show) Took a long walk Saturday morning around downtown Fairfax and up into a windy road(arrived early evening in Fairfax, driving over that bridge with narrow lanes in the dark with heavy traffic and full speed ahead,(you Californian's can all drive very well!) and rain and water splashing up on windshield with wipers not working real well was kinda intense) and its a very beautiful spot with a good vibe to it.
19Broadway was a smallish club but very intimate. Mr. Fearon couple times came out on the dance floor and stood listening and then talked with the sound guy. Not all drama-ish, low key hard to notice but takes his sounds quiet seriously it seems.
Talked with the guy who did the work to get them to play in Fairfax(Mark?)and he said something about having them back at somepoint in the near(1/2 year or so?) future. I sure would love to get back there. Would allow a bit more time for touristing the area though.
