New Changes Coming Soon: A NEW Band Directory

As you might have noticed on the SKA Toolbar, the featured band list hasn't been updated in months. Why? Well... I've been looking into ways that the list can be made more comprehensive - not just linking to a band's MySpace, but to their official website, iLike, PureVolume, Facebook, etc. I also wanted to make user submissions easier. I'm sorry to say... The SKAspot Hall of Fame and SKAspot BOTM is no more...

I'm afraid I haven't done a real good job promoting the monthly contest and it seems that the same people are nominating the same bands every month. I'd like to focus my energy on what really matters to SKAspot users so I'm doing away with the Hall of Fame and will re-focus my energy on improving the overall portal. I hope to make it more comprehensive and integrated with SKA Summit, SKApedia, SKAToob, and the rest of the SKAspot Family. I know many will be disappointed while others won't notice… Continue

SKA Venues Map Added to SKA Summit - Please Contribute!

You may have noticed a new menu item under events on the SKA Summit website. Yes... we now have a map of SKA Venues. I added this map in hopes that we could help bands find places to play ska and plan tours as well as for fans to find ska shows in whatever part of the world they're located. PMOG and SKA go hand in hand!

If you have no clue what PMOG is, here's a brief description (a la wikipedia). PMOG (Passively Multiplayer Online Game) is an online game which players 'passively' participate in while browsing web pages. SKA Summit now has an "Easy to Add to" Events Calendar

It's about time! Ning has finally released their calendar. It's pretty easy to add an event. I just added SKAspot Live Vancouver #2. Feel free to post your upcoming shows. This calendar will also receive exposure on the SKA Toolbar and SKAspot.com as I update both. I'll keep the "Linoit" module live so bands can post larger fliers easily but I encourage bands/promoters/etc. to post their upcoming show dates on the events section also. Continue
