I hear that, me and fellow skasummiter PVB_rudi, are in talks too start a ska band, and try to breeathe a little life in to the local ska scene ouselves. best of luck. I know some people in goose creek, i could try to do some skavangelism via the internet, to help boost the chances.
yea...you know....I've been working on getting a band together for the 4 years I've lived here so far and no success...maybe I'm not just trying hard enough...last summer was the closest I got, but it turned out that people weren't as good as they said they were and every time we jammed, the whole thing seemed to fall apart...and definately good luck with horn players...although I'm a music student at one of the local colleges, it's hard to find any horn players with spare time and an interest in ska whatsoever...my little sister plays T-bone like a beast, and she likes ska too, but she's only 14....so yea....I played with this garage/jam style band last summer and it was fun for awhile, but the singer ended up being a douche so I quit.....currently I've been writing and working with a drum machine to jam with myself....it gets pretty stale though....but yea....as pescimistic as this seems, the ska scene is pretty much dead here in Charleston...as in noexistant...basically the people you see in my photo is half of the ska scene....there isn't even a single ska band here....there's a couple reggae/jam bands and stuff here...the closest band would be the Bottle Cap Bandits in Myrlte, and they're pretty good....the Indepents are also pretty good....but yea...I'd love to get a band started....I think talking to you has kinda re-invigorated me to get a band together...so yea....I'll start talking around again and see if I can get some good musicians...we'll see....
also yea...my drumset is on loan right now, but I'mma bout to get it back very very soon....like tommorow soon....but yea....I actually have a kit and a half, and I'm looking on selling the other one....it's just a bass, toms, hardware, no cymbals or snare though....but if you wanna buy a kit, good place to look would be Musician Exchange in Goose Creek....but yea...g2g to work...hit me back
let's see...in June we got LTJ, Mustard Plug, Suburban Legends, and maybe Goldfinger at HOB in Myrlte, Rancid and the Independents at the HOB in Myrtle...July we got Warped tour in Charlotte, and Ska Weekend...and it's too early to tell about what's happening in August...
