Dude, That was like, last summer. Where have you been? I'm definitely down. I'm in a different band now. I'm singing for The Amalgamated. We have a show on Saturday June 13th @ O'Connel's on Morena. We open for Black Square from Hawaii. Come out if you can. Hit me up on myspace too. www.myspace.com/raphaelpena.
Hi Frank,
I am glad you like our debut CD. We had a really good set and great crowd response when we opened for the English Beat earlier this month. We are going to do our first W Canadian Tour in late June which includes playing several festivals.
There is a nice local Ska festival in it's 10th year around here called the Victoria Ska Festival and this year we have the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and the Slackers coming + many others.
Big hello to you and your friends over there from Rude City Riot.
Attached are two photos from the English Beat show.
cheers,
Dan
The Ska Scene in Vancouver is growing. It seems every weekend at some downtown club there is a 3 - 4 band show with at least two ska or ska-ish bands on the bill. I just finished producing a 45 show ska themed concert series called Skaspot Live and Skaspot Mondays. As you know, I manage RCR and we are opening for the English Beat next Sat. Apr 4th.
A month ago Skaspot Live produced a 5 band Ska a thon all ages concert.
The scene could be better but it is growing, one of the best things happening around here is the annual Ska Festival in Victoria BC, on Vancouver Island.
Hi Frank,
I am putting the Rude City Riot debut CD in the mail to you tomorrow. We have been referred to as "power-ska". Please give it a listen and play it for your platoon mates and let me know what you all think.
Visit http://www.reverbnation.com/rudecityriot if you want to hear what it sounds like before it gets to you.
Cheers buddy,
Keep your head down bro, we'd like to meet you someday.
