aggrolites and the specials for beginners.
What do you have, it will be easier to name the essentials
Or, if you're not a complete idiot, you can just do some FREAKIN' RESEARCH. For example, just waltz onto WikiPedia, on, say, "List of Ska bands", and do some sound sampling on your Amazons or your iTunes or whatnot. Jesus, what do you expect by asking complete strangers for vague recommendations on "ska" music?

Why are The Aggrolites for "beginners"? They don't even play *ska*, in a technical sense...
Compilations, compilations, compilations, my friend.
Trojan Records has TONS of comprehensive first wave compilations that are surprisingly cheap.
2-Tone's a bit simpler, as there are few enough bands that just a few "best-of" compilations would do the trick.
As far as third wave is concerned? "Skarmageddon"! "American Ska-thic"! "Ska American Style"! There's probably more third wave compilations than there were original albums!

Yes, they're called "not ska bands".
The Aggrolites have gone out of their way to clarify they're not a ska band. At least make it clear that it's reggae, not ska, lest the already flimsy lines that define ska blur even more to the point where nobody has an idea of what the hell is going on.
