and now that i think about it, don't name any Jamaican, or English ska bands. Seeing they have just as much fame as the American ones do.

"Just as much fame"...? Hmm. This should get you started:

Germany: The Busters, Dr. Ring-Ding & The Senior All-Stars, Bluekilla, JazzBo, Skaos.

Australia: The Porkers, Area 7.

South America: Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Los Skarnales, Desorden Publico, Firebug, Ska Cubano.

Japan: Oi Skall Mates, The Determinations, Ska Rockets, Ska Flames

Canada: King Apparatus, The Kingpins, One Night Band.

Elsewhere: Mr. Review (Netherlands), Mark Foggo's Skasters (Netherlands)St. Petersburg Ska-Jazz Review (Russia), Babylove & The Van Dangos (Denmark), Mr. T-Bone (Italy), Moon Hop (France), The Moon Invaders (Belgium), Los Grenadians (Spain).

That's all I can think of...for now...

What i was trying to say is i wanted bands from places that arent well known for ska. America, England, and Jamaica all have well known bands.

as far as the US goes, our scene looks desolate compared to a lot of places...

I adore the Dreamlets.- http://www.rocksteady.jp/, however, they don't seem to be playing much anymore. Last i heard was that they were backing for Stranger Cole when he played japan. I would've been in pure heaven at that show!!

Jazzbo is fantastic as well. They are one of the few bands that I feel can really capture the TRUE jamaican sound.

aaand -

Los Granadians (and most of the bands on Liquidator's label)
The Dualers (okay, okay, they're in the UK, but still, too good not to mention)
The Upsessions
Crab Corporation
Pepper Pots
The Heatmakers
The Caroloregians
The Kinky Coo Coos (LOVE this band. I was very impressed by the album they sent me to review for my now-defunct website!)

I'll check some more of my promo materials and try to get back to you, but I think if you check out Jump Up's selection, there's a lot of great stuff in there. Chuck stocks a lot of choice modern stuff from around the globe.

Hope that helps

you guys have missed some really important bands!!!!...from Japan, you've also got Potshot, and Doberman, and in Australia there's the Resignators and the Cat Empire(their newer stuff isn't really ska, but it's still great if you like alot of Latin music), Germany also has the Skunk Allstars, and Alpha Boys school, there's also a couple good South American bands, the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Firebug...France has a good band called Babylon Circus, Canada has the Planet Smashers, the Johnstones, the Salads, Bedouin Soundclash, The Flatliners, Saint Alvia Cartel...basically anybody signed on Stomp records is Canadian, so if you want a full list of Canadian bands, head over there....Brain Failure from China is a really good ska/punk band...anyways, now I'm rambing...there's tons of bands from South America and Mexico I'm missing, so if anybody else can help me out with that, it'd be appreciated.....

Gelgugu from Japan is pretty amazing. I can't find a way to get to their site from the US. But, when I was visiting a friend that lives there, I saw them on TV and was amazed. They have a ton of CDs, I got two of them, and besides the fact they are in Japanese, love them! I'd love to see them come over here to the states.
