I strolled through all the pages of the forum looking for a thread like this (we need some sort of form of organization), but since there isn't, I figured I might as well start one.
Find a new ska band you like? An old one that we've never heard of? Post 'em!
The main reason I started this is because I found a really awesome new band, a three-piece dub-punk-ska ensemble from Coventry (the home of 2-Tone) called The Ripps. They're not straight-up ska (they're sort of rock-ish like the Dead 60s, but not), but they're really good. Check out 'A 1000 Miles Away From Home'.
Yeah, Catch-it Kebabs failed. Unlucky really, went to fill the washer reservoir and managed to catch the bonnet hook on the radiator and rip a hole in it! Doh!
We are making amends, we're doing 5 COUNTRIES in 24-hours in Oct '08.
BTW, Sonic Boom 6 are from Manchester.
Check:
The Fractions - Ska core
Fight the Bear - Funky ska
Both great bands, and yeah, Taking Chase are amazing!
Also, if people like more ska stuff than swinging or reggae stuff then your should check out our new CD in Dec '08/Jan '09 as Catch-it Kebabs are going bouncy ska all the way!!!
Well i look forward to seeing that new album then, i hope it works for ya. Yeah id agree with them choices too.
5 countries in 24 hours. well good luck for that, you worked out where yet, dont have to say just wondering if its just an idea at the moment.. Anyways cath you soon. me x
I have a guy doing Dublin (Southern Ireland) and Belfast (Northern Ireland), then Aberystwyth in Wales, somewhere in England (possibly Manchester or Newcastle, and then Edinburgh (Scotland)
