Where SKAspotters Socialize!

Hope it's true and not a April Fool's joke....(doesn't seem to be, but hey..). I took this from a scooter site and confirmed on The Specials' website.

The Specials have been talking to the BBC about reforming officially, for a reunion tour.

No dates as yet, frontman Terry Hall says they need to get into the studio first:

“Well we’re still trying to put dates together, but hopefully September/ October time. We need to spend the Summer rehearsing… I think it’s taken me 30 years to realise we could do it really well.”

Terry Hall and Lynval Golding made surprise appearances at last year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The pair appeared onstage with Lily Allen to perform Gangsters, and later on a different stage, with Damon Albarn on piano and a beatboxer, performing A Message To You, Rudy.

Terry Hall says that seeing other artists on the reunion trail has been an inspiration:

“Because I saw Patti Smith do Horses, and I saw The Pixies reforming… you do it with dignity or don’t do it at all”.

Can anyone confirm????

Update from "Uncut.com.uk"

The Specials have confirmed they have reformed the band with all seven original members.

Vocalist, Neville Staple told BBC 6 Music that the band have begun rehearsing and there is a possibility of a UK tour later this year.

"A couple of months ago we [all] started talking," he said. "We had to talk first to see if we could get on, but we got past the talking stage. Then we said, 'Okay, let’s see what we're like in a room together rehearsing with instruments'."

Lead singer, Terry Hall, said that no dates had been officially set but the band were hoping to be ready to tour in the autumn.

“Well we’re still trying to put dates together, but hopefully September/October time. We need to spend the Summer rehearsing… I think it’s taken me 30 years to realise we could do it really well,” said Hall.

Staples added: “We're just seeing how it goes. You don't wanna go out there as some old geriatrics – not me. What we've got to do is make sure the music at least is right.”

"So if it works, we'll do it. If not, well. I'm sorry lads and girls. But we're trying."

this is sweet! I mean, it seems like it's working out so far...

I'm not generally into "re-unions", as I think musicians should often just move on to new things, but in this case I'm pretty psyched about it. guess I'm a hypocrite.

now the question might be who has gotten plump over the years. ha! :p

Surprisingly, most of them look like they're in excellent shape (despite the fact that Terry looks like a completely different person); very rarely do I ever see out-of-shape British people in bands...

BBC is no guarantee of truth. The press release that started this whole story came out he day before the release of yet another Specials greatest hits album in the UK.. Bugger me, now THERE'S a coincedence!

According to the info i'm getting from someone close to a few ex-members, Its definately off BTW. Jerry and Terry are still not talking.

I haven't heard about a US Tour, but this is interesting. Amy Winehouse did a Specials tribute EP. Cool cover too.
