Ska Summit

Where SKAspotters Socialize!

This discussion is a chance for you to introduce yourself and talk about your scene. I'll start it off...
Hello, I'm Andy, creator of this network and SKAspot.com. I live in SW FL and I'm a transplant of the Gainesville, FL ska scene (Less Than Jake, The Know How, The Usuals). We don't have much of a scene where I currently live which is probably why I do so much online. Some of my favorite bands are Buck-O-Nine, LTJ, The Johnstones, MU330, The Specials, [spunge], Hepcat, The Dragonaires, Toots and the Maytals, and there's too many more to mention. I'm a graphic arts teacher at a local middle school and in my spare time I work on projects like this, podcasting, and drawing/ painting.

Hey guys name is Stevie i love ska music, luckily i live near Manchester in UK which has a ska night with 6 bands for 4 quid. I mean 75p a band thats mint. I love mistly any ska i hear, i have to admit it was when channel P-rock hit the UK i liked Ska music. And BASEketball featuring RBF. So Jesse James LTJ and RBF got me going into ska. Since then i found so many more bands i love such as Aquabats, Buck-O-Nine, Five Iron Frenzy, Toasters. But love the smaller bands that most people never know of Mr Shiraz being one of them. Mikey is amazing, friendly guy. although most ska bands have friendly members. Me x
PS I am called Stevie anmd from a town called Congleton, England. Peace.

Heya guys my names Christian! I'm 18 and I live In San Bernardino,CA but I'm moving to Fullerton this summer for school, (Cal State Fullerton representin!) which is in the middle of Orange County so I'm hoping to see more of a ska scene. I got into ska 3 years ago with the Aquabats. I picked them up and loved it then to Reel Big fish, then Catch 22 and Streetlight. And it snowballed to things like Operation Ivy, Mighty Mighty, The Specials, and The Toasters. And then from there I blossomed into the ska freak, rude boy I am today. I dig ska in all its amazing forms but my heart belongs to 3rd wave and 2 tone. I have a dream of being in a band yet i play no instruments. Haha I can do magic though so if you a need a magician in a band hit me up. So thanks for giving me a community I like and see you around.

Yo, this is the Kid Funky Fry. I'm originally from northern Virginia, a short ways from DC, but right now I'm on deployment in this tin can they call a ship. I really got into ska/punk around the fall of '04, and concerts were the main way for me to find new bands. I'm hoping to get back into that after I come back from deployment - I'm not exactly sure where I'm going to be, the Navy is probably going to kick me out because I wouldn't take their anthrax vaccine, so I don't know if I'll stay in San Diego, or if I'll go back to VA - but I definitely like D.C. way better than VA, so when the Navy tells me what's goin on I'll figure it out from there. Wherever I'll be, I definitely want to get back to the concerts.

Hey Kids !
I'm Judd Irish Bradley, and I am an Alcoholic.
and a Photographer. I live in the middle of the New Mexico desert. The ska Scene here is the best! When all six of us get together, It gets CRAZY!

On a more serious side. I am a photographer. I work for several national magazines. I do live and promo photography for The Pietasters, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Knockout and Many others. I also run the Pie guys merch stand when they're playing in the southwest.

The floor of my studio has hosted some of the best and brightest bands when they can't afford a room!

I'm David, I'm from Charleston SC, where the ska scene consists of me and 4 or 5 of my friends. Literally. I play keyboards and/or drums, and I'm trying to start some kind of ska/reggae band here, although former attempts have failed. miserably. But anyways, trying to get more ska here in the south is one of my goals. The nearest shows are usually Myrtle Beach, but most ska bands seem to avoid the south in general like it's plagued or something...but anyways...we need more ska down here dammit....
