I assume most people have already seen this, but I noticed there wasn't already a topic for it, so I decided to make one.
As most of you know, Christian Jacobs (MC Bat Commander) has been making this children's show called "Yo Gabba Gabba." The show has become a big success which has made Aquabats fans, and ska fans in general very excited.
They have had little references to ska (Vespa with checkerboard pattern [Possibly a reference to Jerry Dammers]) but nothing major. Until a while ago when a music video teaching kids to pick up their room by, of course "Picking it up."
Too many ska references to count, a catchy ska tune (by gogo13) and even the part of the dad is played by Alex Desert (Hepcat) it's simply perfect...
If you haven't seen it, you can see it here:
This is a place to discuss possible references and fun stuff like that...
EDIT: Forgot to mention, when I saw GoGo13 live with the Aggrolites, they played the song (as a part of House Ape) and the Aggrolites played banana.
Truly it's one of the finest moments of television history since J.R. was shot. I don't quite understand your whole Vespa/Jerry Dammers connection...I think the scooter stands alone as just a symbol of the Ska/Mod culture rather than a specific person (like the banana wearing the army parka!).
Also, is the girl supposed to represent Millie Small? I think there has also been debate over whether or not the dad was supposed to represent Laurel Aitken or Neville Staple.
And, don't forget the contributions The Aggrolites made to 'YGG!', both with their appearance and that song they did a short time back, "Look Both Ways"(?).

there is an aquabats action figure at 0:41-ish. i think the dad might havfe been modeled after walt jabsco. im not sure.
foe gogo13 you can go to gogo13.com or myspace.com/gogo13
There was an interview somewhere (or something) where dammers talked about a vespa scooter he saw with a checkerboard pattern and that was how he got the idea for the 2 tone checkerboard pattern. I almost guartentee it has nothing to do with it.
When i first say the Dad i thought Neville but now that you mention it, it could very well be Laurel.
Oh yeah, the book that is picked up is the book of Mormon, I'm not Mormon but my friend is and he brought it up to my attention.
Also does anyone know if there's any special significance with the roller skate in the corner? Is that a reference to something? There seems to be a strange emphasis on it.
